I grew up in the small rural town of Lindsborg, Kansas, which, despite its size, had a robust arts and music culture. Every year at Easter time, Lindsborg holds the Messiah Festival of the Arts, which is centered on the performance of two major works—Handel’s Messiah, and Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion. As a little girl I remember my mother taking me to the dress rehearsals for these oratorios, and I dreamed of one day being old enough to sing with the chorus. When I was sixteen I joined the chorus and sang for eight years. I attended the local Bethany College, and was privileged to be selected as a student soloist in the dress rehearsals for Handel’s Messiah for every year that I was in school. While at Bethany College I was a member of several different auditioned choirs, and also enjoyed performing the title role in Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. I graduated from Bethany with a Bachelor of Arts in music. I then moved to Wichita, Kansas for the musical opportunities available in a larger city, and continued my vocal studies under Dr. Dorothy Crum, while performing with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and Opera Kansas. After moving to Warren, Pennsylvania in December of 2016, I began teaching at the Warren Music Conservatory and SLT Academy. I love working with the students and look forward to implementing music curriculum that grows with our students and provides them with sight singing, vocal skills and enjoyment that will last a lifetime.

Since landing the role of “Buttercup” in a fifth-grade production of H.M.S. Pinafore, I have found a home, a playground, a classroom and a career in theatre.  Whether working as a performer, playwright/librettist, technician, literary manager, educator or administrator, the arts have been my chosen path. During my career I have been honored to work with incredible artists, performers, educators and staff members at Pittsburgh Public Theater, Court Theatre, Teatro Visión de San José, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Grove City College, Middlebury College and the University of Iowa. As a librettist, I have been extremely fortunate to have received two commissions with my writing partner Lisa Quoresimo that have resulted in productions of those musicals at: The Marsh Theatre, Eureka Theater, Brava Performing Arts center and the Mexican Heritage Plaza. My brain and heart quicken at the thought of my teaching work. It is an incredible delight to provide the resources and opportunities necessary for students to engage, hone their skills and grow in talent to achieve any goal they set. We hope that the artistic love, enjoyment and skills learned at SLT Academy will be carried with each of our students to make their lives rewarding, happy and successful.
