WARREN CONCERT ASSOCIATION PRESENTS HOLIDAY CONCERT

On Friday, December 13, the Warren Concert Association will host the third concert of the five-concert season.  The Dan Pugach Nonet and vocalist Nicole Zuraitis will perform holiday classics along with a Jazz, Folk, and Brazilian repertoire at the Struthers Library Theatre at 7:30 PM.

Dan and Nicole are not strangers to the Library Theatre stage.  Four seasons ago, Nicole was part of a female trio called EVA.   Not long before heading to Warren, Nicole and her EVA bandmates met an Israeli drummer and he agreed to add percussion to their acoustic sound.  A trio became a quartet as a bonus to an enthusiastic audience.  That drummer was Dan Pugach.

Dan stayed with EVA until the three members moved on to separate careers.  One of the three, Nicole, joined Dan and they began performing frequently in the NYC area and on the road with various other musicians.

Since leaving EVA, Nicole has toured in Europe with and without Dan, though they established a permanent relationship with their marriage in 2017.  The collaboration between their personal and professional relationships resulted in a 2019 Grammy nomination for their arrangement of Dolly Parton’s classic country ballad “Jolene.”  While they didn’t head home with a Grammy, the music world is taking notice of this talented pair.

The enhanced repertoire of the Dan Pugach Nonet is proof that Dan is a composer and arranger who has mastered the art of making a group sound much bigger than it is.  The Nonet creates a joyful, energetic mini big band playing original music and inventive arrangements, especially of Brazilian, Folk, and Jazz pieces.  Take that big band sound and add Nicole’s “hard to ignore” voice with remarkable range for a spectacular evening of live music.

Concert tickets are just $20 for unreserved, festival-style seating at the theatre.  Tickets can be purchased now at the Library Theatre business office, VirgAnn’s, Tybout House, and Anchor Advisors in Warren and in Youngsville at The Storehouse Grocery.   Tickets will also be on sale at the theatre box office at 6:30 PM on December 13.
