WendyPicAfter a nationwide search, the Trustees of the Struthers Library Theatre are delighted to announce the selection of Wendy McCain, of Warren, as our new Executive Director. McCain will replace the current Executive Director, Marcy O’Brien, who will retire at the end of July. Wendy lived in Warren as a child, when her father was assistant pastor at the First Presbyterian Church. She attended Jefferson Elementary and Beaty Middle School. Her father’s job relocated to St. Petersburg, FL where she grew up. She came back to Warren with her husband three years ago to be closer to their grandchildren.

Wendy’s experience is a wonderful fit for the Historic Struthers Library Theater. She has a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Wendy has worked for both for profit and non-profit organizations. Her experience includes fundraising, event planning, grant writing, sponsorship attainment and volunteer management. Additional experience includes managing daily operations, budget oversight and leadership of staff. Wendy is currently the Director of Implementation and Optimization for a company located in Texas providing her the ability to work from home. Previously, Wendy worked as a Capital Campaign officer for a non-profit foundation.

Wendy’s love of theater began early when her grandmothers took her to performances at Heinz Hall. Since her return to Warren, she has come to appreciate the cultural benefits of live theater, music, dance and film to the quality of Warren and its surrounding communities. She is a current member of Struthers Library Theatre, Woman’s Club, Crary Art Gallery, Warren Historical Society and the Audubon Community Nature Center. Wendy is thrilled to use her business experience in the Executive Director position along with the opportunity to tap into her creative side to continue the momentum of the efforts already underway.

Judge Maureen Skerda, President of the Board of Trustees, commented enthusiastically about the selection. “We had 35 applications from around the country. So many candidates congratulated Warren on what we have accomplished with our historic theatre and its active program. We are very excited to work with Wendy to sustain existing programs and build the strength of the theatre’s contributions to the community.

Bob Crowley, Treasurer of the Board of Trustees, also expressed excitement about the opportunity to build on a strong foundation. “We have just completed a $2.8 million renovation to the theatre, increasing access for all our patrons. It is thrilling to have a new Executive Director who recognizes the importance of this legacy and wants to work with us to build it forward.” McCain’s will assume the Executive Director Position on July 30, 2018.
